Classical ballet is one of the oldest and most beautiful disciplines in the world to which mums and dads can introdue their children. Ballet opens the door to a world of imagination, music, creativity and expression. Not only is it of physical benefit to our children but it develops early self confidence, social skills and an understanding of classroom ettiquette. All of these benefits can begin to be learnt from as young as 18months of age. By the time children who have been exposed to ballet class head to school, they are well equipped with a great deal of skills that will serve to benefit them in their early years of academic education.
In ballet class children learn;
to listen and follow instructions
dance in front of friends and family
balance, physical expression & coordination
memory, sequencing and emotional release through music and movement
Although many children prefer to bop along to pop music or take more of an interest in styles such as jazz, hip hop or tap, classical ballet provides them with the foundation skills for all of these other genres. If they eventually pursue dance as they grow up they will thank you profusely for their ballet training!
So if you haven't already, get your kids to the nearest ballet class and start realising the benefits of this amazing activity now. happy world ballet day! Miss H
